About Diedrich Drill
For more than 50 years, Diedrich Drill has built a reputation for manufacturing durable, dependable drilling equipment used across the United States and around the world. Diedrich rigs are trusted by engineering firms, drilling contractors, and government agencies who rely on equipment that performs in demanding conditions.
Built for Performance, Proven in the Field
Founded in 1973 by John Diedrich, Diedrich Drill began as a small machine shop in La Porte, Indiana, dedicated to supplying precision parts for the coal and mineral exploration industries. Over the years, the company evolved rapidly, channeling its engineering expertise and commitment to quality into manufacturing drilling equipment and tooling that professionals in the geotechnical, environmental, and groundwater industries trust.
John Diedrich’s vision was simple yet bold: to build rugged and reliable drill rigs and components that deliver exceptional performance, durability, and ease of service. That commitment to innovation and customer-driven design has guided the company’s growth for more than five decades.

A New Chapter of Growth & Investment
In 2016, the private equity firm Cape Kauri Partners LLC acquired Diedrich Drill. The transaction reflected the group’s strategy of investing in middle-market industrial companies where operational expertise and financial backing could drive growth and efficiency across the company. The acquisition positioned Diedrich Drill for further expansion under private equity ownership while maintaining its established role in the drilling market.
Today, Diedrich Drill is still recognized as a premier manufacturer of top-quality drill rigs, and a full range of specialized tooling. Supported by a knowledgeable team of engineers, machinists, sales professionals, and service technicians, the company continues to set industry standards for performance and support, serving drilling professionals across the United States and around the world.
